Studio Montessori is a brand new, small, privately owned French/English bilingual preschool in San Francisco. It has two Montessori environments: Le Nido, consisting of 14 children ages 4 months to 2 years, and La Maternelle, consisting of 32 children ages 2.3 years and above. The school community is very diverse with families of varied American and international backgrounds. Studio Montessori adheres to the Montessori curriculum and standards of the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) based in the Netherlands. Both environments are well stocked with authentic Montessori materials and are led by experienced Montessori guides trained for the levels they teach.

Positions available at Studio Montessori:

Assistant Montessori Teacher (Ages 0-3 and 3-6)

Under the direction of the Lead Montessori Guide, the Assistant Montessori Teacher develops and implements individual educational plans for children, which help them to develop socially, intellectually, physically, and emotionally in a manner appropriate to their stage of development. The Teacher works collaboratively with the Teacher Assistant and volunteers.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  •  Degree in early childhood education or child development or 12 early childhood education credits/units from a recognized college or university. 

  • Highly prefer Montessori Infant-Toddler or Preschool teaching diploma awarded by a recognized Montessori training organization.

  • Highly prefer native or fluent French speaker.

Available Schedules

  • Full-time positions are Monday through Thursday 8am - 6pm

  • Part-time positions are Fridays only 9am to 4:30pm

Compensation: $20 - $25/hour depending on schedule and experience. Full-time assistants are receive full health and dental insurance as well as paid attendance to the annual AMI Refresher Course.

Floater Teacher / Playground Supervisor

As part of the education team, under the general guidance of the Lead Montessori guide with support from the Director, the Floater / Outdoor Teacher supports classrooms as needed to cover breaks and absences. The Floater / Outdoor Teacher supervises children at the playground and on field trips to ensure safety and accountability. These outdoor activities are designed to foster or enhance all areas of the child's development.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalency 

  • At least 6 ECE credits

  • Knowledge and experience with the basic principles of child development;

Available Schedules

  • Full-time positions are Monday through Fridays 9:30am - 5pm

  • Part-time positions are flexible schedules that can be decided on a monthly basis.

Compensation: $18+ per hour depending on experience and schedule.

Lead Montessori French/English Speaking Guide (0-3yrs or 3-6yrs)

Under the direction of the Studio Montessori Director, the Lead Infant-Toddler Teacher assists in overseeing and directing the planning, organizing, and implementation of education services for children, in addition to classroom teacher duties which include: Developing and implementing individual educational plans for children.

 Qualifications and Requirements:

 §  A baccalaureate or advanced degree in any subject, preferably early childhood education or child development; 

§  A Montessori Assistant to Infancy teacher diploma awarded by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) (other trainings may be considered for Teacher or Assistant Teacher positions only);

§ Have knowledge and experience in the philosophy and practices of authentic AMI teaching practices. Have a deep understanding of developmentally appropriate practice for the age group they are trained for (0-3 or 3-6). Have familiarity with bilingual and foreign language education.

§ Native French speaker highly preferred.

§ Proof of a physical examination within the last six months, which includes a tuberculosis test, and comply with other background checks as required by California state law and California Community Child Care Licensing;

§ Personal qualifications necessary include: emotional maturity, willingness to cooperate with the aims of the program, respect for children and adults, flexibility, patience, excellent personal hygiene, and physical and mental health which does not interfere with responsibilities with children, parents, and coworkers;

§ An education or experience in collaborating with parents in the education of their children.

 Compensation Package

 § $55K to $60K gross salary per year depending on experience
